"Divergent" is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a world where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group.

This movie is so relevant to our current situation in the US. I really identified with the main character, because seeing all of the censorship even of sustainable gardeners/farmers, spiritual healers, MDs with a differing opinion based on their experience has really made it clear that the big tech companies (including social media) and our cancel culture have made free thinkers rare online at this point. What will you do when your view is the "dangerous divergent" one? Will you still approve of censorship when it comes to your industry and you try to fight for what you believe is right only to be met with malice and rejection?
Awesome Movie! One of my favorites! If you like sequels then this is definitely for you! This is the first of 3 movies that are currently available to watch. The 2 main characters have a awesome chemistry and a building relationship onscreen. It’s romantic in ways for the hopeless romantics, but jammed packed with action for those who favor that type of movie. Great Cast, Love Ashley Judd and Kate Winslet as Suppoorting actors! If anyone has any questions about this film please feel free to ask me! I’ve watched it a million times and still Love it! Definitely a Great Movie!

Ya know... Like Hunger Games! Made a ton of money! And it seems like that's the only reason they made this movie. Everything seems rushed. Like they forgot to tell a story or develop the characters. Like the concept was all they needed. Famous actors, whose whole 'motivation' was "Make a movie." Tried to watch it again, just to see if I was having a bad movie night or something, but it didn't get any better the second time around. Made it halfway. I actually paid to see this, and that's embarrassing. Won't be paying for the rest. Maybe if I thought they'd all die before it was over.... But I doubt if I'd be that lucky
Divergent is the first of three , the first one is about a couple of kids that to decide on how there lives are to be in the future,by taking a test and the results will let them know what side there on and with this , they will have ti leave there family Divergent is the best of the best and if your test result shows this, most likely you will be killed, this part of the movie is focused on the test itself trish(shalene woadley)- passes her test and gets her buttt kicked, and is saved by one of the leaders and she manages to fight the final fight in this series against the leader of the whole world, played kate winslett, it will make you cringe and you could say, love was found, this movie is good and if you ever watched HUNGER GAMES, this will put your mind in the same place, there was more than one part of that series as well, if you liked it, you will love this one!!

You're better off watching its parody trailer.
Dislikes: - The first 2hr of the movie was mostly people talking... not much substance or meaning to the movie like in Inception or Harry Potter. It's more about feelings. So like the Honest Trailer admitted, the film's more for the emotional teenage girl. - A lot didn't make sense, like all the police faction do is run around the streets climbing buildings and laughing... - The fate of the father was kinda dumb: just cuz you're a side character who's about to do something brave to help the main character doesn't [SPOILER WARNING: mean you have to die. He totally didn't have to expose himself and flat out die in order to gun down those bad guys.] - I had to skip some scenes whenever a scene became boring and superfluously talkative (like people using 30 words or mins to express what could've been done in 10 words or mins).
Likes: - It was cool to see the mom take initiative ( when the daughter needed help). - It was briefly funny a few times to laugh at some of the ridiculous moments.

excellent story/theme in the movie.
hhmm, "factions" in the real world. they're known by many names, the most popular being so-called "races". those factions, of course, were created by the centuries-old and still very much alive ideology, philosophy, practice ... of white supremacy or racism ...
then there are the religious "factions" ...
political "factions" ...
we should wear masks and we don't need to wear masks "factions" ...
everyone should be forced to receive the covid vaccination and no one should dare trust a covid vaccine "factions" ...
the movie was interesting enough to inspire me to read the book.
I FRICKIN' LOVE AMAZON!!! (and...uumm...Jeff Bezos too!!!)
This movie was your typical recycle of the past few years worth of teen movies. It was very predictable, it tries to force a love story that it doesn't need, female heroine that is special from everyone else, separated from parents and must grow up quick. These movies are metaphors for going to college. The film was still watchable, i finished the 3 hours but halfway through i felt dissapointed with the direction the plot was going. The worst thing about this movie is that its 3 hours long but doesnt have anything realistic about it to get you into it. Example would be everyone lives in a grungy bunker with no showers but everyone has perfect hair, notably the girl, seriously you will notice how good her hair looks to the point its distracting. A sci-fi or action movie should be over the top unbelievable and hour n a half long or believable at 2+ hours. I can go on and on about what ruined this film for me but overall i think most people will find it okay but not worth renting, and a few loving it that can relate with the main character and havn't watched all the other ones.

I enjoyed this film. A disaster has happened at some point and the civilisation was destroyed. A utopian state was set up divided up by what might be called castes. However you get to chose your caste as part of a coming of age ceremony. However the human race being what it is has intrigue and propaganda and the military caste resent the workers being the leading caste. Modern technology is then used to try and brainwash people but the heroes fight this in an attempt to save the city from the leaders who are also (in their minds) saving the city. We never do see what is outside the large fences defending the city and the reason for having a powerful military but it is set up at the end for a sequel of what is beyond the fence and that would be a sequel I would be interested in seeing. I am sure it is not perfect but I enjoyed the film and was interesting and kept my full attention that many films do not.
Divergent is a great film based upon the book (written by Veronica Roth) and although it doesn't stick rigidly to the plot and there are adjustments to the scenery as described in the book, such as the ravine, it is still very good as the actors are great at bringing the main characters to life including Triss and Four and the plot is still as interesting. I bought this on BluRay rather than DVD as I find it is much more immersive as the audio and picture quality is much more in-depth and crisp with much more detailing available for the viewer. This would be a great buy for anyone who read Veronic Roth's series and at only ￡5 it is an absolute bargain in my opinion.
The first time I tried to watch this film, I gave up: it was confusing and not the kind of thing that appealed to me. But later I read the book and surprised myself by liking it. So I decided to try the film again and this time I understood what was happening and found it much more enjoyable. The film followed the book fairly closely and although I'm still left with questions, I thought it was well acted and this time round at least I was able to identify with both Tris and Four and appreciate the journey they take.

It's okay, I guess. Believe me when I say that I have seen worse films. I have also seen a lot better too. I wouldn't class it as a Hunger Games rip off..... Which I classed as a rip off from Battle Royal anyway! There's obviously some similarities, as there will be in many films made from book adaption. If nobody believes me, come up with a 100% - never thought of story line? Can't? I really didn't think you could! Now, the good points are in my opinion, the character development, I kinda enjoyed seeing Tris develop. However, to see her develop soo quickly is very implausible! It's not your run of the mill sci-fi action, because there's really not much action to be fair. But since when did a film need to be pedal to the metal for the entire run time? It is more suited to teenagers in my opinion, but that's not to say there are no enjoyable bits through the entirety of the film. If you're bored and have a few hours to kill, give it a go, you may like it. If you don't, what harm has really been done anyway?

My 11 yr old daughter had to read the for a guides' book club. She found it hard going to start with as this was a completely different style to her usual Jacqueline Wilson material. We decided to get the DVD to help the process. We were glued to it from the start - it was certainly gripping and although there were guns, shooting and a bit of mild violence, it wasn't too scary and left us wanting more. The next film, 'Insurgent', is on our Christmas list. Highly recommended.
