I marvel at people who buy the wrong boot for the wrong purpose and then bash the boot instead of educating themselves on the different types and quality levels of boots out there for purchase. Know what you are buying, know your feet, know the purpose, and buy accordingly. In all reality these are more boot looking high top shoes... but they look so good and feel like slippers, not boots... so I'm happy. Anyway, my two cents...
It is a shame, the last 3 pairs of boots I have had have been Timberlands, and they were used in a much harder environment, and all lasted until the tread was gone(2-3 years)
I did call the customer service, and they told me they would send me new boots, but that I get to have the pleasure of paying for the shipping. I know it will only be a few bucks, but the principal of me having to pay to correct their mistake tells me they dont want my continued long term business. I was told and I quote "that's just our policy," I also have to fill out a warranty claim online, they could not start a claim over the phone.
I'll pay the $10/$15 bucks shipping to have these replaced, and I'll never buy another pair of Timberlands again.
The dark brown boot is very dark, somewhat darker from the photos that are posted.
I would say you should buy a FULL size down from your normal shoe/sneaker size. I wear a 9 in Vans/Adidas sneakers and went with a 8 in the Burnished Brown and they fit great!
A shoelace did get messed up when trying to feed them through the loops but it’s not really a big problem. I really did not like the insole so I replaced them with some Dr.Scholl’s and they feel even better.
I really like them because you can put your pants in them for a nice style or put them over and use them like a dress shoe.
On further inspection I found other defects that would have me throwing these out after owning only a few months. The sole on right boot and end points of tongue stitching of left boot are already coming unglued! Additionally the stitching on the big toe knuckle on the right boot is also beginning to frey. I've bought cheap Walmart boots that held up better.
I also knew they weren't waterproof buuuut they soak in the slightest bit of moisture! These boots give "moisture wicking" a whole new meaning! These boots are also drafty.
I was not expecting insulated boots but I've never had my toes go so cold so quickly... especially on the right! Where incidentally the toe has already caved in and seems like a different material in this spot on the right boot than the left boot... odd huh?
I am taking these to Kohl's today. Dropping off the shoes there was a return option. So that is one extra star in their favor! It is a convenient option for me.
I hope I didnt throw out the box! I think I did cause I was like "these are Timberlands! I'll never need this box cause these boots will last for years!" Hah... boy was I wrong!

Leather - beautifully cut and stitched and really great quality with a nice waxy finish. Will wear very well I think.
Laces and eyes - hold a knot very well (I tend to use a reef knot) with a smooth pull through the eyes
Fit - definitely go 1/2 - 1 size smaller than you'd normally take. By way of a benchmark, I'm a Clark's 8.5 and the size 8 Timberlands fit me like a glove.
Comfort - some of the best shoes I've ever worn. Easy to wear looser for casual wear or laced more firmly for more ankle / foot support when you're out and about. Either way, very comfy.
Sole / grip - the sole is quite (slightly too?) soft and provides excellent cushioning but represents the one weak area for this boot- grip on smooth, wet surfaces is not great. It's possible this will improve with time but I suspect not.
Overall, buy with confidence- you're unlikely to be disappointed.
When my current ones need replacing I'll be purchasing exactly the same ones again.
You do get a fair amount of grip in wet and snowy conditions, and the sole stands up well to the elements, but beware, because they are essentially soft gum, they are pretty slippery when it comes to ice! You can always get yourselves some of those snap on ice shoes if you're worried about it
Ive noticed other reviewers talking about the life of the sole - i cant comment on this too much as ive only had them for a couple of weeks (still, ive worn them every day!) but it seems to be fine for now. Re-soling is fairly cheap though and once these gum soles finally give out i'll be replacing them with a harder thermal compound sole so they are less slippery on ice.
I also bought the timberland waximum protector for these and applied it straight away to protect against di
